  • 1/4 cup pine nuts, toasted (optional)
  • Zest of 1 lemon (optional)
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Slice the chicken sausage, chop the onion, mince the garlic, and cut the broccoli into florets.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Brown the chicken sausage until golden and set aside.
  4. Sauté onions and garlic in the same pan until translucent and fragrant, about 3 minutes.
  5. Stir in the orzo and toast for about 2 minutes.
  6. Add chicken broth and bring to a simmer. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add broccoli, cover pan, and cook until broccoli is tender and orzo absorbs the liquid.
  8. Stir in cooked sausage and Parmesan. Mix to combine.
  9. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  10. Add sun-dried tomatoes, pine nuts, and lemon zest if using. Stir to combine.
  11. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.
